The Sixth Aion Closed Beta Event
Written by HolyMech

Following five successful and productive beta events, we now have in front of us the pinnacle of closed beta mountain. We now cast our eyes toward the promising horizon, revealing the approaching open beta and the much-anticipated release of Aion.

This upcoming sixth and final closed beta event marks the end of an era. As such, we have decided to make the most out of it. We will not be raising the level limit from that of the previous event. The maximum level will be level 30 for Elyos and Asmodians alike, encouraging you to spend some time to catch up with your friends or explore the vast lands of Atreia.

We want to conclude closed beta testing on a high note, so we are arranging a series of story-driven in-game events, in part hinting at some of the much-anticipated content forthcoming in with our massive release day patch. Keep that F5 key handy, since more information on these live events is headed your way later this week!

Closed beta 6 is primed to rocket onto the servers on Friday, August 14, 2009, noon PT (8 p.m. BST, 9 p.m. CEST). Our beta forums open their gates two hours earlier, and access to them will be ongoing throughout the weekend until Monday.

Keep in mind that you will need either an exclusive Aion closed beta 6 access key, a full-access key acquired through fansite program competitions, or have preordered the game in order to partake in the event. A limited number of closed beta 6 access keys will be given away by a few selected gaming web sites over the coming week, so keep those eagle eyes open if you are looking to grab one.

Look for more information on this upcoming sixth closed beta event shortly. Until then, fly safe!

CB#5 Is Over - What's Next?
Written by Tigros

Now that the Closed Beta Event #5 is over and players have managed to level most of their test characters above 20 (or even 25), a lot of questions have started to arise:

  • what class will I be playing when the game will finally be released?

  • what profession shall I focus on, and does that depend on the class I will be playing?

  • how will the organized PvP look like after reaching level 25?

If you're also thinking about these issues, it might be useful to know that:

  • Armorsmithing - makes chain/plate; armors uses metals

  • Weaponsmithing - melee weapons; uses metals

  • Tailoring - makes cloth and leather armor; uses fibrous plants/leather

  • Handicraft - makes bows, staves, and jewellery; uses wood/precious metals/gems

  • Cooking - cooks food; uses raw food

  • Alchemy - makes potions; uses plants

Yes, most of the info above is common sense, but it helps to know what type of materials you should be looking at in game in order to prepare yourself for dwelling into one of the professions above.

Aion Close Beta Event #5
Written by Tigros

Closed Beta event #5 (CB5) is incoming, ladies and gentlemen, and it's coming with a respectable shipment of fixes, improvements and fine additions which we have worked hard to complete since the previous event. To give you an overview, please find below a pure list of things to expect for this coming weekend:

  • New Sound files have been added

    • NPCs should now have a greet and farewell voice

    • Cutscenes will now have voice

    • Race Prologues are now available when you create a new character for Elyos and Asmodian

    • Tutorial videos are now available in game via the help menu

    • Player voices are now available at character creation

    • System voices are now available

  • New NPC Dialogue/Quest text for Theobomos and Brusthonin

  • Various Localization fixes

    • Broken HTMLs have been fixed

    • Various grammatical errors have been fixed

    • Various Glossary term fixed

  • 2 New servers added for each territory

Especially exciting for us is to introduce a first round of English audio, allowing you all to have a small taste of a more completely localized version of Aion. As we have announced before we are committed to releasing Aion with all its content adjusted and culturalized into top-notch English, including character voices and voice-overs. Keep in mind that these are currently implemented as a beta feature and that they will contain minor irregularities and bugs. Bear with us as we work to polish this and extend the volume of content even more in the foreseeable future. You will be able to log in to the game no later than on Friday noon PDT (8 PM BST, 9 PM CEST), marking the exciting dawn for two entirely new game servers for each territory. In order to promote newcomers to join these new servers, character creation will be disabled on all other servers during the beginning of the event.

See you in Atreia between 8pm GMT July 31 and 8pm GMT Aug 3!

Aion Reviews
Written by Tigros

Getting close to the release date and being already available to the community for testing, Aion also got the full attention of specialized gaming websites, such as IGN, ZAM and IngGamers. Here is what they said about the game:

IGN
" ... with those visuals, that flight and the remarkably powerful character creator, it's a far more epic and lavish experience than we've seen to date"

ZAM
"Interestingly enough, however, despite the fact that I did go into this with fairly (ok, extremely) high expectations, Aion was impressive enough that I could really understand what all of this hype was about."

IncGamers
"I thought the class selection screen was impressive, but I was blown away by this stage. The face that greets you as you begin to design your character is uncannily realistic."

And don't forget, the next closed beta event will take place between July 31st and Aug 3rd, with the focus being on Elyos and Asmodian characters levels 1 to 30.

See you in game!
